LookDev — Automation

Automation detects fixture geometry and creates multiple V-Ray lights from a consistent source-mesh workflow.

What the visible controls do

Scan Scope
Choose the source range before scanning, such as the selected hierarchy, so automation does not act on unrelated scene geometry.
Only detect light-like names
Limits automatic candidates to names that match the configured light naming logic.
Detection Settings
Name Prefix and Source Attribute make the detection rule explicit and show the priority used to identify source meshes.
Auto-balance light placement
An experimental optional adjustment displayed in the current interface; leave it off when you want the source placement unchanged.
Scan Source Meshes and Preview
First inspect the detected objects, then enable the preview before committing to creation.
Create Lights
Creates lights only after the scan and review stage, keeping the batch operation deliberate.

Detection

Choose Selection Only, Selection Hierarchy or Scene. Detection checks a source attribute, an optional name prefix and light-like names to identify candidate fixtures.

Tagging and preview

Advanced Detection can tag the current selection or a related name family, select untagged sources and assign batch type or group attributes. Use Scan Source Meshes and Preview before creating anything.

Create detected lights

Review the detected types, override individual results when needed, and use Create Lights. Auto Balance is available as an optional final adjustment.
